Five local businesses receive regional tourism awards
Yarra Valley and The Dandenongs’ businesses who have demonstrated outstanding achievements and success were acknowledged with Regional Tourism Excellence Awards on Wednesday, November 25th.
Through an entry submission and inspection of the nominated property by one of the three judges, the Awards were open to all businesses in the Yarra Valley and The Dandenongs. There were five categories, which are based on the Tourism Victoria awards categories, held annually.
The winners for this year’s event were:
Tourist Activities: This category is open to attractions, tour and/or transport operators, hot air balloon rides, helicopter or any other type of business which significantly contribute to the tourism experience within the Yarra Valley and/or the Dandenongs.
Gold Award: A Tour with Taste
Silver Award: TarraWarra Museum of Modern Art
Bronze Award: Lake Mountain Resort
Hosted Accommodation: This category is open to owner/operator accommodation providers offering a high degree of personal contact with guests. Entry is open – but not limited to – bed & breakfast, farm stay, cottage or other intimate, boutique, colonial or heritage accommodation.
Gold Award: Monreale Estate
Silver Award: Arcadia Cottages
Bronze Award: Yering Gorge Cottages
Meetings and Business Tourism: This category is open – but not limited to – conference facilities and other meetings industry operators, service providers and suppliers who maximise the tourism experience for meetings and business travellers.
Gold Award: The Country Place
Silver Award: Yering Gorge Cottages
New Tourism Development: This category recognises excellence in the planning of tourism infrastructure and/or services with a focus on entrepreneurial vision, harmonious integration with the environment, design and functionality and uniqueness of the service.
Gold Award: Yarra Valley Open Studios
Silver Award: Rayners Stone Fruit Orchard
Bronze Award: The Dandenong’s Garden Festival
Food and Wine Tourism: This category is open to all wineries, distilleries and boutique breweries offering a tourism experience and who make a significant contribution to tourism.
Entry is open - but not limited to - cellar door sales, tastingsor tours.
Gold Award: De Bortoli Yarra Valley Estate
Silver Award: A Tour with Taste
Bronze Award: The Home Hotel
